Griego Porte

Showcase site for a doors-and-windows showroom in Quarto (NA): eleven product families, PDF catalogs, structured quotes and door customization — static Astro, local SEO and showroom photography.

Not an e-commerce: a digital showroom

Griego Porte is Salvatore Griego’s doors-and-windows showroom at Via Campana 92, Quarto (NA). In the shop, customers touch samples, compare finishes and talk to Monica, Sara and the owner. Online they need the same density of choice, without drowning in a marketplace catalog.

The site does not sell online. It converts to site surveys, quotes and showroom visits: two phone numbers, WhatsApp, map, opening hours, free parking. The rest is trust — real photography, authorised brands, Google reviews, VAT number in the footer.

The challenge

A window-and-door retailer has a breadth problem, not a cart problem:

  1. Too many families — interior and security doors, PVC/aluminium/wood-aluminium windows, thermal blocks, shutters, pergolas, walk-in closets, shutters and grilles, parquet, stairs, accessories
  2. Too many brands — MisterShut, Garofoli, Salamander, VEKA, Rehau, Flessya, Annunziata, NewSolar, Sikurhome, Croci, MV Line, Claf, Arlem, Mr Art Design
  3. Slow decisions — nobody “adds to cart”: they choose, measure, compare, come back. The site must accompany, not push
  4. Local and job-site traffic — smartphone in the car, WhatsApp from the living room, a PDF to forward to the surveyor
  5. Physical-business SEO — Google Maps, NAP, split opening hours (morning/afternoon), real reviews

A “construction” WordPress theme would have held the pages together. It would not have held identity, image weight and speed.

Design direction

Palette and type come from the logo: door-red, charcoal, showroom cream. No generic contractor blue.

ElementChoice
PaletteBrand red + charcoal + cream (griego-deep / griego-cream)
HeadingsPlayfair Display — shop-window serif, not job-site type
UI and bodyPlus Jakarta Sans, self-hosted .woff2 with preload
HeroFull-bleed carousel of real photos (entrance doors, garage doors, windows)
Product barRed strip under the header: shortcut to every family
CTAsSolid “Request a quote” + ghost “Customize your door”
Quick contactsSix icons under the hero: call, maps, WhatsApp, email, Facebook, Instagram

Copy reads like in-store advice: quality, installation, after-sales — never “best price” or fake urgency.

Why Astro (and not WordPress)

The default in this sector is a CMS with a 4 MB slider and ten plugins. The constraint here was the opposite: dozens of showroom WebPs and a site that must stay fast on 4G.

Astro emits static HTML. JavaScript only runs for real islands:

  • mobile menu
  • hero carousel with deferred slides (later photos do not tax LCP)
  • reviews carousel
  • homepage brand filters
  • PDF catalog filters
  • scroll-reveal on sections

No page-builder runtime, no jQuery, no theme CSS. One stylesheet from BaseLayout. Fonts and LCP image in preload. Almost every image is loading="lazy"; the first hero is eager with srcset (640 / 800 / 960 / 1200w).

A showroom site should feel like a printed catalog that turns in a second — not a window waiting on TTFB.

Information architecture

Short header navigation, depth in the content.

PathRole
/Commercial showcase: hero, families, brands, reviews, map, CTAs
/chi-siamo/Story, services (survey, install, after-sales), coverage area
/prodotti/Numbered index 01–11, photographic cards
/prodotti/[family]/Sheet: solutions, lightbox gallery, related PDFs, quote CTA
/catalogo/PDF archive filterable by category
/personalizza/Style / type / opening-system form
/contatti/NAP, map, full quote form
Privacy and cookiesDedicated pages, linked in footer and forms

The red header strip repeats the families even inside a product sheet: on mobile it is the showroom shelf.

Homepage as a sales tool

Not “above the fold and stop”. A path:

  1. Promise (install + quote + after-sales)
  2. Immediate contact (phone / WhatsApp / maps)
  3. Short social proof (showroom copy)
  4. Eleven product blocks with photos and “Learn more” — some with inner carousels (pergolas, shutters)
  5. Authorised brands with filters (Doors, Windows, Security shutters, Insect screens, Grilles and shutters)
  6. Invitation to customize a door
  7. Six Google reviews in a carousel, with names and source
  8. “Where we are” block that opens Google Maps
  9. Closing quote + WhatsApp

Reviews are not placeholders: they name Salvatore, Sara, Monica, installer Paolo — the same people the customer will meet in the shop. That is nominal social proof, not generated stars.

Product sheets

Each family has its own page, not a homepage paragraph. Example interior doors:

  • split hero, text + photo
  • opening systems: hinged, flush, sliding, Magic, pivot, folding
  • model gallery (Garofoli and other lines) with “Enlarge” lightbox
  • official catalog + related catalogs (BILIKO / MisterShut)
  • “Request a quote for interior doors” already contextualised

Same pattern for security doors, windows, thermal blocks, blinds, bioclimatic structures, closets, grilles, stairs, parquet, accessories. PDFs are not a separate drawer: they sit inside the sheet of whoever is already choosing.

Two conversions, two forms

A window is not bought in three clicks. Two entry doors.

Technical quote (/contatti/#preventivo)

Fields for a surveyor and a showroom, not a generic landing page:

  • contact details and address
  • type (door, window, French window, shutter, box, shutters, insect screens)
  • material (wood, aluminium/iron, PVC)
  • quantity, colour, installation address
  • opening system, number of sashes, handing, transom
  • sizes W × H in millimetres
  • free notes

In-page success and error feedback. Privacy linked. WhatsApp as a parallel channel (“prefer writing here”).

Customize your door (/personalizza/)

A more emotional path, for whoever has a style in mind but not the measurements:

  • type: interior door, security door, window, other
  • style: modern, classic, flush, sliding, pivot, folding, “I don’t know / advise me”
  • notes

Two funnels, one company: one talks to the job site, the other to whoever is furnishing.

Local-business SEO

JSON-LD LocalBusiness + HomeAndConstructionBusiness:

  • legal name, VAT, landline and mobile, email
  • structured address and coordinates
  • openingHoursSpecification with two weekday slots (09–13 and 16–20) plus Saturday morning
  • amenityFeature free parking
  • areaServed: Italy, showroom in Quarto
  • sameAs Facebook, Instagram, Google Maps listing
  • canonical to https://griegoporte.it/

NAP repeated in header, hours bar, footer and contact page — consistent, not “one phone on the homepage and another in the footer”. Open Graph and meta description aligned with doors and windows Quarto (NA).

Details that matter

  • Sticky WhatsApp always visible — the real channel for local customers
  • Split hours written as they are said in the shop, not a fake single “9–20”
  • On-site parking repeated: an obstacle removed before the visit
  • VAT and legal name in the clear: B2B and condominiums want to see the company
  • Product lightbox: the digital showroom enlarges, it does not just scroll
  • Downloadable catalogs for the technician who will not open the site twice

Results

  • Visual identity aligned with the logo and the physical showroom, not a “construction” theme
  • Wide catalog (11 families, 10+ brands, filterable PDFs) without drowning the homepage
  • Two distinct conversions: job-site quote and style customization
  • Maintainable static base: new families or PDFs without plugins
  • Local SEO ready for Maps and doors / windows Quarto queries

The site should do what Salvatore does in the shop: listen, show, and book a survey.
